Composite material is an effective material and often used in various fields because it has many advantages compared to ordinary materials. The composite material is a combination of the filler and matrix. Where between filler and matrix has a distinct advantage. The use of Fibre Reinforced Concrete (FRC) has been developed. The use of fiber in the concrete is intended to improve / enhance the properties of normal concrete due to the use under special conditions.
This research analysed the influence of palm umbrella fibre (cyperus alternifolius) of normal concrete compressive strength as composite materials. Palm umbrella fibres with a length of 1.5 cm was added to the normal concrete with a variation of 0%, 0.1%, 0.3% and 0.5%. The test specimen are a cylinder with a diameter of 15 cm and 30 cm high, pressure tested after only 28 days by Universal Testing Machine. The result showed the value of concrete compressive strength of 20.2 MPa with fiber 0%; 13.55 MPa with fiber 0.1%; 19.22 MPa with fiber 0.3%, and 10.42 MPa to 0.5 MPa fiber. Increasing fibre composition decreases the value slump and the compressive strength of concrete, but the compressive strength of concrete increase at 0.3% variation in fibre.
